Richard C. Byron

Rich joined Wingate Wealth Advisors as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in March 2021, bringing with him more than 25 years of Financial Services experience. Throughout his career as a Management Consultant and C-level executive, Rich has consistently helped Financial Services organizations become more client-focused and efficient through the strategic use of process improvement and the practical use of Information Technology and Data Management.

Prior to joining Wingate, Rich was a C-level executive at Boston Private. As Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Boston Private, Rich led a team of nearly 200 staff and was instrumental in designing the digital client experience for Private Banking and Private Wealth clients. As Chief Administrative Officer for Boston Private Wealth, a wholly owned Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) with $7-$8 Billion in AUM, Rich managed staff from the Back Office through client-facing Trust Officers and presided over a complex program of business process improvement and culture rationalization during a post-acquisition integration of disparate firms. Prior to these C-level roles, Rich was the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Boston Private, working directly with the CEO and the public company Board of Directors on multi-faceted, multi-year strategy projects including the integration of five separate private banking entities into a single Private Bank.

Prior to Boston Private, Rich was a Director-level Management Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the Data Management and Process Improvement practice of the Financial Services industry vertical. In addition to providing consulting, technology, and business process solutions to global Financial Services clients, Rich also led a global pro-bono effort to assist the United Nations and many of its member agencies to track donations in the wake of the Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004. The work that Rich’s multinational team performed was cited in various media outlets by Kofi Annan and former President Bill Clinton.

In addition to the 12 years spent at both Boston Private and PwC, Rich’s professional background also includes three different startups and a stint as a teacher at the Phillips Academy Summer Session. Rich is a graduate of Dartmouth College, a married father of three, and a once-and-future ski bum.
